About
I have been a "ricercatore" (researcher/lecturer - permanent position) in the University of Bari since 2004.
I got my PhD in Classical Philology from the University of Bari(Italy) in 1998. I subsequently spent one year of specialization abroad at the University of Oxford (1999-2000). I have been the Cotsen Traveling Fellow for the 2010-2011 academic year at the American School of Classical Studies - Athens.
My research interests center primarily on Attic Oratory. I carry out research into the manuscript transmission, the biographical tradition and the reception of the Attic Orators. I have especially studied the manuscript tradition of Isocrates' "Antidosis", which I am currently editing for a new edition of Isocrates' works to be be published in 2013 in the "Oxford Classical Texts" series.
I am also interested in the History of Classical Studies, especially during the 19th and 20th centuries. In this field I have also published the scholarly correspondence between two prominent papyrologists of the 20th century (Medea Norsa and H. Idris Bell).
My teaching experience includes classes of "History of Classical Scholarship","Classical Tradition" and "Classical Philology" for undergraduates.
As far as research projects are concerned, I am currently directing the local research project "La parola politica degli antichi. Testi, tradizioni, ricezione" (Univ. of Bari, "Progetto Idea - Giovani Ricercatori") and I am taking part in the national research project "CAG: Codices Graeci Antiquiores" (FIRB - Futuro in ricerca).
I am editorial board secretary of the journal "Quaderni di storia".
